What to expect
The Community Center is open to the public from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
Senior Program hours run from 9am to 3pm.
Participants must register in advance for programs, activities and use of the Senior Lounge.
Free programs require an active membership. Programs and activities are for seniors age 50 and older. Participants can register anytime online or in-person at the Community Center during program hours.
All classes and programs are subject to change as the COVID environment changes.

Special Town Hall Meeting:
Come join Supervisor Jim Provenza, on February 22 at the West Sacramento Community Center along with Alta California Regional Center, and Yolo County staff to discuss the needs of Aging Caregivers of Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Yolo County. More details below.

Free for registered members. Everyone must register to use the lounge.
Join us for coffee and conversation or group games. Coffee Bar will include free regular or decaf coffee, specialized creamers, and all the fixings.
RED HAWK CASINO
Friday, February 16, 9 am to 2 pm
Cost $20 per member and $28 for non members
Join us for a fun day at Red Hawk Casino. We will meet in the Senior Lounge at 8:45am and depart at 9 am. Bring money for your casino enjoyment. Please register by February 2.
MOSAC SCIENCE MUSEUM
Friday, January 19 11:30 am to 2 pm
Cost $25 per person
The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity invites visitors of all ages to learn about science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) in a fun and engaging environment. Bring money if you wish to buy something from the Cafe. We will meet in the Senior Lounge at 11 am and depart at 11:15 am. Please register by January 9.
CA RAILROAD MUSEUM AND FANNY ANN‘S SALOON
Friday, February 9, 11 am to 1:30 pm
Cost $24 per person ($12 due at registration and $12 for museum entrance)
Let's go explore the California Railroad history and enjoy lunch at Fanny Ann’s Saloon and Restaurant. Please bring money for lunch and $12 for entrance fee. Meet at the Senior Lounge at 10:30 am and will depart at 10:50 am. Register by January 26.
KP KARAOKE
Friday, February 23, 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Cost $30 per person
Get ready to sing your heart out and enjoy up to three hours of karaoke fun. Pizza and beverages will be provided. We will meet in the Senior Lounge at 3:45 pm and will depart at 4 pm. Please register by February 9.
ASPARAGUS FESTIVAL
Friday, April 12, 11:15 am to 4 pm.
Cost $25 per person, includes admission to the festival
The San Joaquin Asparagus Festival in Stockton is a delightful celebration of all things asparagus. Meet in the Senior Lounge at 11 am and we will depart at 11:15 am. Please bring money for your enjoyment. Register by March 29.
RED HAWK CASINO
Friday, April 19, 9 am to 2 pm
Cost $20 per member and $28 for non members
Let’s get ready for another round at the Red Hawk Casino. We will meet in theSenior Lounge at 8:45 am and will depart at 9 am. Please bring money for yourcasino enjoyment and remember to register by April 5.
All special events and field trips require advance registration. Field trips are subject tochange, and/or cancellation. The city vehicle and Red Hawk Casino shuttle is not wheelchair accessible. There is no lift.
Card Making Class - July and September: $4.50/class
Tuesdays 11am to 12pm.
Card Making: Join others, socialize and get your creative juices flowing making greeting cards. Bring your own tools and bling.
Scrapbooking Class - August: $2/class
Tuesdays 11am to 12pm.
Scrapbooking: Bring your scrapbooks and supplies and join others who enjoy this hobby. Colored paper provided.
Coloring Class - Every month: $2
Wednesdays 1:30pm to 3pm
Enjoy this fun time activity. Relax with your peers as you color pages and share ideas. Materials will be provided.
Knit, Crochet and Sewing
Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm.
Free for registered members.
This is not a class taught by an instructor, but it is a fun social group where you can share your tips, tricks or a project you've been working on. All skills welcome. Learn or share new techniques with friends or come and socialize. Any string work is welcomed. Bring your own supplies.
Ceramics Class (OFF-SITE) No Cost, but must bring own supplies.
Mondays 9 am to 1 pm.
Our ceramics class is designed for students to work independently on their choice of ceramic projects. Students are instructed on how to complete projects from green ware (clay not yet fired) into beautifully fired ceramic pieces. Basic supplies are provided but most students choose to purchase their own brushes and cleaning tools. Students must purchase their own green ware or bisque pieces. Staff will furnish their first piece to see if they like the class. Space is limited.

Zumba ® Gold
Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:30am to 12:30pm.
$3 per class or $14 for a 7 class punch card.
Join us for this adaptive dance class where a vivacious party happens in every class. Steps are choreographed to upbeat, happy music. Zumba Gold is where happy people gather to have a good time while getting fit! Bring your water and wear clothes and shoes you can dance in!
Line Dancing - Current students only at this time.
Tuesdays from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.Free for registered members.
Boost confidence & creativity in our country Line Dancing class. Learn the basic steps and choreographed routines in a low impact environment. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can move in. Bring your water!
Chair Exercise with Rose and Rita
Wednesdays 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
Free to registered members.
This class is packed with energy and the positive vibe is contagious. Get fit in this low impact class using bands and resistance. Get out the kinks and build up your strength, designed for seniors of all fitness levels. Work on flexibility, balance and agility; practice small muscle and mind-body routines to lively music.
Tai Chi

Free for registered members.
Community Tai Chi class is taught movement-by-movement with martial arts application. Tai Chi is designed to help you gain better health and balance.
Morning Chair Exercise
Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 10:30am.
Free for registered members. Space is limited.
Start your day off with movement. Join our group and come participate in our DVD driven, chair exercise class. This class is low impact and full of happy people.
Bingo!
Thursdays 1pm to 2:45pm.
$5 per class for registered members. Register today!
Let’s play Bingo. A game of chance. We will supply the bingo cards. Bring a friend and double the fun. Must bring additional money for card purchase. Six cards maximum per game. (10 cents per card, or 6 cards for 50 cents). We do not have coin change so come prepared with change to play. Light snack provided. Please note all upcoming bingo special events will increase to $15 per participants starting in January 2024.
Brain Boosters
2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
No cost for registered members.
Just like physical exercise, your brain needs exercise too! Challenge your brain with mentally challenging activities such as trivia, memory games, crossword puzzles and other activities to keep your mind sharp. Activities are held in a group setting.
Hand and Foot Card Game
Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm
Free for registered members.
Hand and Foot is a card game in which the objective is to score points by melding clean red and black books. Space is limited.
MEXICAN DOMINOES
Mondays, 11 am to 1 pm.
Free to registered members.
Advance registration required.
The object of the game is for a player to play all the tiles from his or her hand onto one or more chains, or trains, emanating from a central hub or "station". The game's most popular name comes from a special optional train that belongs to all players. However, the game can be played without the Mexican train; such variants are generally called "private trains" or "domino trains".
Movie Mondays - 1pm to 3pm
Every Monday, we will feature a movie for your enjoyment. Come and relax and enjoy some popcorn and watch the movie with your friends! Free, unless otherwise noted. Participants can suggest future movies.

HICAP Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy is assisting seniors virtually, in person and by phone. Have questions regarding Medicare? They offer free counseling.
You can now make an appointment to see a HICAP Representative.Appointment are available within the Community Center on the Second and Fourth Tuesday of each month from 1 pm to 3 pm, must call HICAP at 916-376-8915 to make an appointment. No walk ins.
Paratransit Vouchers
By Appointment only. Register by calling (916) 617-5320. Yolo Adult Day Health Center (YADHC) has implemented a West Sacramento inclusive program that provides Yolobus Special vouchers to medically designated, disabled seniors who are 60+ and eligible, registered participants for YOLOBUS Special paratransit services. Funded by Area 4 Agency on Aging (A4AA), it is designed to encourage independent community mobility for disabled seniors who, due to a disability, are unable to travel to a boarding and disembarking location on fixed bus routes. For eligible candidates, limited vouchers are available from Active Aging Programs.
Legal Services of Northern California
Need legal advice and help? Legal Services of Northern California will offer limited free service to the senior community. Community Center appointments can be made for the First Tuesday of each month between 9 am to 11 am .

Need a new smoke and carbon monoxide detector?
If you haven’t picked one up last year (2023) and would like one, please stop by the Community Center. We still have a few left.
You will need to sign a waiver and the installation of the smoke detector is your responsibility.
UTILITY ASSISTANCE HEAP
If you need help paying for your gas/electric/fuel bill, you can apply for the HEAP Program. You can access the application on their website: http://www.nces.org
Help may be obtained by calling the toll free number at 1-800-233-4480. You may leave your full name, mailing address, home phone number, and daytime phone number and an application will be mailed to you within 2-3 business days or make an appointment at the Community Center by calling (916) 617-5320 and we can help you out with the application.

Falls are common and costly, especially among Americans aged 65 and older. But falls are preventable and do not have to be an inevitable part of aging. Learn about consequences of falls in older adults and ways to prevent falls in the FREE fall prevention presentation Live Strong & Safe. A complimentary night light will be handed out after the workshop.
California Department of Insurance Presents Financial Fraud and Common Scams Workshop

Please join us in this beneficial workshop. The presenter will talk about preventing fraud, financial abuse and common scams involving insurance fraud. She will also talk about the California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program, a low-cost auto insurance for the low income.

The Senior Resource Fair at the Community Center will be on Friday, May 17 from 10 am to 12:30 pm. Please join us for an informative gathering.
